Introduction
The Quick Attach Power Axe Tree Shear is built for fast, controlled tree removal, fence line clearing, and demanding land management applications.
A skid steer tree shear is an attachment that uses hydraulic force to cut trees like a pair of scissors - no chainsaw, no sawing motion. The Power Axe delivers that cutting power with a 90° rotating head, letting you clear fence lines, trails, and overgrown property without leaving the cab. Browse our full range of forestry attachments to find the right tool for your land-clearing job.
Designed for skid steers, the Power Axe cuts and securely holds trees in a single operation, allowing operators to remove material safely and efficiently without leaving the cab. Its heavy-duty construction and powerful 5.5-inch hydraulic cylinder deliver the strength needed for professional land clearing, right-of-way maintenance, and property reclamation.
Capable of cutting trees up to 14–17 inches in diameter, the Power Axe is available in both Manual Rotate and Hydraulic Rotate configurations to match your application. Whether you're clearing trails, reclaiming overgrown property, maintaining easements, or removing unwanted trees, the Power Axe delivers the durability, control, and productivity professionals depend on.

Manufacturing
The Power Axe runs on most standard-flow skid steers and compact track loaders. What matters more than the machine's size is its auxiliary hydraulic flow and the weight it can safely lift and hold out front, since the shear grips and carries the stem after cutting. If your machine is on the smaller side, tell us the make and model and we will confirm fit before you buy.
The Power Axe cuts softwoods up to 17 inches and hardwoods up to 14 inches in a single squeeze. Hardwood cuts smaller than softwood at the same rating because it is denser, so size to the hardest wood you cut regularly rather than the biggest tree you have ever seen.
A tree shear closes a blade through the stem like a pair of scissors and holds the tree so you can lift and stack it. A tree saw cuts with a spinning disc and does not grip what it cuts. Shears are faster on small and medium stems and let you bunch and carry, which is why they suit fence lines, trails and right-of-way work. For the largest standing timber a saw wins on raw diameter.
Both Power Axe tree shears rotate the head 90 degrees. On the manual model you set the angle before the cut. On the hydraulic model you rotate from the cab mid-job, which is worth it if you are constantly repositioning to cut limbs or angled stems. For straightforward felling, the manual rotate is the value pick.
